Dieter Thomä’nın, “Babalar” adlı kitabında okumuştum. “Famulus” kelimesi latince “evcil köle” anlamındaymış. Bunu okuduğumda aklımda beliren bir görüntünün son aşamasıdır bu heykel. Aile, kendi iç hiyerarşisi, ilişkiler yapısı ve toplum içindeki temsiliyeti itibariyle devletin düzenini devam ettiren ve asla risk almayan bir yapıya mı sahiptir? Bu soru ile ortaya çıktı bu çalışma. İrade sahibi olmayan, hem yaratıcı, hem yok edici bir varlık çizmeliyim diye başladım ve ardından hamile ve bomba taşıyan bir el arabası heykeli ortaya çıktı: “Famulus”
I had read this in Dieter Thomä’s book Fathers. The word famulus means “domestic slave” in Latin. When I read that, an image began to form in my mind — this sculpture represents the final stage of that image. Does the family, with its internal hierarchy, relational structure, and representation within society, embody a system that sustains the state’s order and never takes risks? This question gave rise to the work. I began with the idea of depicting a being without will — both creative and destructive — and from that came a sculpture of a wheelbarrow that is both pregnant and carrying a bomb: Famulus.
